Candy Corn is my Crack

I adore this substance:

Source

This is almost as good as stuffing. And like stuffing, it’s seasonal.

Also like stuffing, I will ONLY consume one brand. Brach’s. DAS IT. No other brand will do.

Today I caved and went and bought the first bag of the season. And was reminded of the most expensive bag of candy corn I ever purchased.

I had just moved here and was living paycheck to paycheck. I thought I had about $10 in there, and bought some essentials for lunch that week at the grocery store. I also saw that candy corn was on sale for 50 cents!! SCORE! So naturally I added that to my cart.

I later found that I had gone over the amount of money I had (more like six dollars) by twenty cents, and was charged a $32 overdraft fee.

Which made the bag of candy corn worth $32.50. I savored that shit.

I luckily remember this story because I had a blog about my life. It’s embarrassing- I had pretty much zero readers and was even more awkward – so I won’t be linking to THAT site anytime soon. If you know of it for some reason, you get a prize and a lifetime vow of silence. Anyway, that post got zero comments way back when. But it’s still just as entertaining to me today!

Holy crap. That’s totally happened to me before. Well, not for candy corn but it still hurt. I’m partial to the candy pumpkins myself. Nom nom.

I really love caramel candy corn. Oh, and $32 for a .20 overage is ridic! At least you enjoyed the candy 🙂

Oh my gosh! I would have been piiiisssedddd. And $32 for a 20 cent overdraft? That’s just not right.

Fortunately for you I do not share your love of candy corn, so don’t worry about me buying out the stock 🙂 That and the fact that we don’t live in the same state…

I love candy corn too! It was always one of my very favorites as a kid. But not those pumpkin ones. I think they are the same thing, but they don’t taste as good.

Ohmigosh I used to be the queen of overdrafts fees.. not some I should be proud of, eh? But it’s ok, bc I love me some candy corn too 🙂

oh my lord. I seriously have candy corn issues. I’m somewhat embarrassed to say that I (with a tiny bit of help from my husband — barely) have already mowed through 2 bags of candy corn and 1 of autumn mix. Brach’s is the only way to go! I’m trying to hold off on buying another bag until October rolls around…

I am a fan of caramel apple pops. And I feel you–once, I bought an episode of Gossip Girl off iTunes with a giftcard and went a few cents over. I paid like $20 for that shit. Not cool

I’ve been trying (not that hard) to cut some sugar out of my life, so I’m not allowing myself to buy candy corn. Even though I’d love to. But I still love ice cream more. But I would totally top my ice cream WITH candy corn if I were allowed. Sigh.

I have a younger brother who is having trouble learning to be an adult. He overdrafts at least once a month. On things like Taco Bell and vending machines. Not a joke. Be glad you only had one $32.50 bag of candy.

Is there any brand other than Brach’s?? There’s no way I would even try it! Brach’s candy corn is the bomb.

OMG did I just say “the bomb”? WTF.

LOL! And I’m totally with you on the Brach’s only candy corn. The other stuff is nasty!

Luuurve candycorn! I like the pumpkins too but I can only have like 3 before I start to feel sick. Candycorn I can eat all day. We usually keep a bowl of it on the coffeetable this time of year. Oh & anyone who gets between me & the candy sales at CVS after halloween better watch it! LOL

OMG – I totally did that in college too.
But when i lived in Europe and refused to believe that money should stop you from traveling.
I still think I was right

I think I’m one of the only people who doesn’t like candy corn. It does taste alright with peanuts (I made that mix in jars for my OOT bags). It actually tastes pretty darn great that way, but otherwise I normally just pass.

I have a confession: I have never had candy corn. What the heck does it taste like? I guess this means I have to go buy some huh? Crap.

Annnnd I feel like such a cool kid because ummmm yeah I’m about 98% sure that I read your old blog. But, it was back in the day when I didn’t really know what a blog was and that the comment function essentially acted as crack to the blogger. I know this now. And, I will say that I was kind of secretly envious of you, since I had absolutely no idea how to start a blog. Annnnd then you showed me. And look what happened…

Hey! Your old blog sounds a lot like mine. HAHAHA. I don’t purposely try to get new readers although I do want them!!

And I just bought a bag of these (Brach’s of course) and put them in homemade caramel corn bags. They were AMAZING!!

Jelly Beans are to me what Candy Corn is to you. In case you wanted a good analogy for the day. Second…that reminds me of when my old roommate got the most expensive bag of ice ever created. She went to the store, wanted 20 dollars cash back, and hit an extra zero, so she paid about 202 dollars for ice. I still giggle about it.
